About US
reconnecting people with themselves, each other and the natural world
Founded in 2004, Global Generation is an educational charity, which works together with local children and young people, businesses, residents and families in Camden, Islington and Southwark. We co-create gardens with the local community and currently have 3 active sites in King’s Cross and Southwark. We aim to showcase how disused urban spaces can become an oasis for plants and people to grow.

Our approach
We combine activities such as urban food growing, carpentry, cooking and eating together with dialogue, story-telling, creative writing, silence and stillness. These practices create the conditions for people to come together, reflect on who they are and what they are a part of and, from that space, practically contribute to ecological and social change.
Our gardens and builds aim to:
Enhance the ecosystem: we plant for wildlife, garden organically and help create healthy soil ecologies.
Be collaborative: co-created community spaces, that help local people influence and contribute to their local area
Embody circular economy approaches: reclaiming and reusing materials wherever possible.
We have developed a methodology based around the three territories of 'I, We and the Planet' which is present in all the work that we do.
I - people gain a deeper understanding and care of themselves, each other, their communities and the planet. They develop practical skills, increase confidence and become empowered to reach their full potential
We - people connect to each other and the natural world and create stronger communities that are connected and able to tackle the root causes of social and environmental injustice
Planet - people take social and environmental action. Community led biodiverse spaces are created that rethink built environments, unite people and nature and are examples of best practice in co-creation

“As a family we have learnt so much through gardening and activities using natural materials. My children have grown in confidence and tried new things for the very first time and so have I!”

Our GENEROUS supporters
Our work is generously supported by a range of trusts, foundations, businesses and individuals.

“Global Generation has given our pupils greater access to the natural world and the opportunity to grow food from seed to plate. Without such experiences our children, who live in a very urban environment, would not have access to nature and plants. Having green spaces has an impact on all children and staff, promoting wellbeing and calm which then has a positive impact on children’s learning through supporting their emotional wellbeing.”
